ABOUT OUR BADASS FEATURE:
Maurisa Li-A-Ping is a writer and educator raised by an Afro-Caribbean Blaxk Womxn in Brooklyn, New York. She has work appearing in Puerto del Sol, Up the Staircase Quarterly, WusGood Mag, Lunch Ticket, and more. She is a Scholastic Art and Writing Awards recipient, Alumni Microgrant recipient, Poetry Pushcart Prize nominee along with various other awards and scholarships. Maurisa has touched stages at the World-Famous Apollo Theater, United Nations, Barclays Center, a host of college campuses and various other venues. ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT:
The Providence Poetry Slam takes place at AS220 MainStage (95 Empire Street, Providence). There is an accessible entrance and the space is wheelchair accessible. The stage is not wheelchair accessible, as there are four unavoidable stairs leading up to the stage. There is a wheelchair accessible mic in front of the stage at all of our events. There is a gender neutral and wheelchair accessible bathroom available. We ask that all performers use the microphone during all aspects of their performance. We keep some of the house lights on during all aspects of the show for the safety of our performers and audience. This is not a fragrance free space.
